Lakshmi Vidya Sangham, named after Srimathi. Lakshmi Ammal, wife of T.V. Sundram Iyengar is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and amended by Madras Act XXXIV of 1954 on June 06,1964.
The present TVS MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, originally known as TVS LAKSHMI MARTICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, was a "dream child of LVS". In the year 1972, this school was registered with just 40 students. Today TVS Matriculation Higher Secondary School boasts of 4,700 students. Shri. N. Sundram was the first correspondent and then in the year 1968, the correspondentship was held by Shri. K. Surya Narayanan. The curriculum offered was changed from CBSE to Matriculation syllabus to fulfill the expectations of the parents. In the year 1982, Ms. Shobhana Ramachandhran, member of the TVS family took over the overall responsibility of running the school and she is holding the position as the Chairman.

RULES ON DISCIPLINE
On Leave
Classes: I, II & III
Consolidated grades of all the three terms will be considered for promotion.
Classes: IV to VIII
a. Average of the marks obtained in the four cycle tests will constitute 40% of the total computed for promotion.
b. Both the terminal examinations will be considered equally important and 30% of each terminal examination will be taken into account.
Class IX
The Monthly tests will be computed for 40% marks and the scores of the three terminal examinations for 20% marks each.
Attendance
Failure of a student to present an ID card, when requested by a staff member, will result in disciplinary action. Security guards have the right to deny permission for any one without ID card to enter the campus.
The Library
Apart from Open House, parents are welcome to interact with the Vice-principals regarding the progress of their wards. The Vice-Principal will be available for such discussions as scheduled below.
If the parents are desirous of meeting the Principal they should get prior appointment through the Information Centre. Besides, the Principal will meet the parents without prior appointments on Fridays from 4p.m to 5 p.m.

RULES ON DISCIPLINE
- School hours 7.00 am. to 12.25 p.m. - Forenoon Shift
12.35 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. - Afternoon Shift - We request the parents to follow the instructions given on every page.
- Students should be in the school premises before the classes start.
- The school strongly recommends that parents make arrangements to send their wards well in time.
- Students are strictly forbidden from leaving the school premises during class-hours without permission from the Principal / Vice-Principal.
- Class-rooms, corridors and staircases are declared as 'Noise Free Zone' and any student found making noise in these zones is liable for punishment.
- Personal hygiene and cleanliness are expected from all students.
- Every student should communicate only in English in the school campus.
- Disobedience and misbehaviour in any form will result in the expulsion of the student without prior notice.
- Parents will have to bear the cost, if any school property is damaged by a student, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
- Students should be inside the class room before the start of prayer.
- Silence is to be maintained during prayer.
- Students should walk and not to run in the corridors.
- While moving from one class to another, students should move in a line, without making noise.
- Students should respect and greet all teachers, irrespective of class or subjects they handle.
- Every student ought to know his or her admission number.
- Students should show pleasing manners.
- Students should maintain school property in the best possible way.
- Students should keep the classroom and the campus tidy.
- Students should make sincere effort to maintain books, note books and files neatly.
- Students should be regular in doing all the work assigned by the school.
- Every student should endeavour to keep up the tone and fair name of the school by excelling in good manners and behaviour both inside and outside the campus.
- Fee is payable tour times a year during the month of June, September December & March.
- Classes X to XII, will pay the tees in three terms.
- Arrears of tees for each term shall render the name to the student liable to be struck off the roll.
- Fees should not be sent through the student.
- Rules and tees payment should be adhered to as per the bank procedure.
- Please go through the details printed on both pages of the Bank Challan for further clarification, especially regarding the Bank's working days.

- Leave letter should be given to the class teachers in case of planned leave.
- In case of unplanned leave, the school should be informed and the leave letter must be submitted to the class teacher along with the parents' signature the next day.
- Kindly avoid sending the students to school on the days when they are sick
- If the students of std Ito VIII are affected with any of the diseases like chicken pox, Measles, Mumps, Whooping cough, Typhoid & Jaundice, they will not be allowed to attend school for 21 days with a view to help their health to be toned up as well as to prevent other children from getting infected.
- The Examination Regulations will apply to all tests and terminal examinations.
- The time-table should be strictly adhered to.
- Just before the examination starts, all books, notebooks and other materials that may give unfair assistance, should be removed from the respective exam halls. Only pens, pencils, erasers and mathematical instruments can be taken inside the examination hall. No pupil is allowed to sit for his I her paper if he / she is more than 10 minutes late. However, the invigilators may exercise their discretion and if reasons offered are genuine, may allow the late comer. Students are not permitted to take outpass on the days of Cycle test! Slip test.
- Absenteeism on the days of test I examination will be viewed seriously.
Classes: I, II & III

- When absent, it is the students responsibility to complete the assignments and cover the lessons missed. Excessive absence and incomplete work will have an adverse effect on students progress and grades.

The Library
- Each student will be issued a user card.
- Books are lent out for fifteen days and must be returned promptly: If not, students will be fined at the rate of Re. 1/- per day.
- Reference books will not be lent to the students.
- Books must be returned in good condition.
- Magazines or books removed from the shelf for reading in the library should be replaced.
- Each pupil is responsible for the book(s) he / she borrows for user card. He / She will have to pay for any loss I damage caused. The duplicate user card will be issued at the cost of Rs. 10/
- All bags and files are to be left outside the library.
- Silence must be observed in the library.
- Vandalism will be viewed seriously.
- All students should wear the apron in Chemistry lab.
- Should always work quietly and carefully and not indulge in pranks jokes and other acts of carelessness.
- Should report to the teacher about any damaged equipment, bottles or containers.
- Should keep the table tidy during the practical classes.
- Should wash hands thoroughly after all practical classes.
- Should not take chemicals from unlabelled containers and should report about such containers to the teacher.
- Should not try any unauthorised experiment.
- Should not enter to work in the laboratory unless a teacher or lab assistant is present.
- Should not take apparatus or chemicals out of the laboratory without the permission of the teacher.
- Should leave the table clean after the experiment unless advised otherwise.
- Insist that your ward attends school everyday unless illness occurs.
- Insist that your ward is punctual and arrives on time to all classes.
- See that your ward gets the appropriate amount of sleep in order to be attentive and alert in the class.
- Provide an uninterrupted study time and reading time at home.
- Check with the ward, daily, regarding home work, assignment and monitor the completion of assignments.
- Contact school authorities to request a discussion if there are queries concerning your ward's progress or questions regarding assignment or home work.
- Ensure that your ward wears uniform with ID card.
- Ensure that you spend time with your ward every day.
- Every parent should mention the Admission number of their children in all communications.
- Avoid your wards taking leave especially after the festival holidays.
